Dar Checks In From The Tour Bus

Friday, January 30, 2009

Hello from the tour bus at 2am...

I've been doing a co-bill with the lovely Josh Radin for the last week, plus the multi-talented Jesse Harris opening the shows, and at the aftershow party in New York City, my label folks (yes, they're cool enough to bring to parties) said they would buy me a camera if I actually used it. The challenge was on. Thank you to Bob at Bergin Camera for opening up his store after my Ringwood, NJ gig.

This is pretty goofy, but here's a little preliminary shooting, a study in contrasts: Richmond, Virginia and Las Vegas. One night I played at the gorgeous National Theater and three hours later, I was picked up at 4am to fly to Las Vegas where I was part of the Mad Men live revue at the MGM Grand.  I was too nervous (drilling lyrics for Always True To You Darling, In My Fashion) to take pictures during the show, but I got a few shots of the pre-show and will post the show photos as they come in, so you can see my lofty hair.

I flew back the next day to play in fabulous Carrboro, NC in the rain. I went to the Weaver St. Market (co-op) for a long while and took in its comforting aura of community-ness, then played with Josh and band, and now we're in Birmingham: my first time in Alabama, so kind and welcoming all around.

More to come...
